More pre-Halloween activities

Just a couple reminders: you can click on the pictures to see them larger and the posts are in reverse order. To see more, choose a month or specific post title from the links on the right. :) Happy reading...

Logan just hanging out

We went to the Longmont Halloween Parade this morning. Kids of all ages walk down Main Street and then Trick-or-Treat at the stores afterwards.

Superman!

Connor and Rhyann held hands most of the way. Too cute!

Superman and Princess Rhyann (who obviously hasn't been to finishing school yet! haha)

After the parade, we went back to the pumpkin patch for pictures in costume. We had to go with Rhyann - she and Connor have gone there together for the past three years!

Logan tolerated his duck costume for a good two minutes...

Mmm...my first taste of real food?

That way, Superman!

Not six feet tall and bulletproof yet :)

Superman really does fly!

Wow...I went back and grabbed a couple of pictures from our 2004 and 2005 trips to the same pumpkin patch with Rhyann. Check out the differences! These kids are amazing :)

Happy October

We went up to Grandma and Grandpa's house on Sunday and had fun playing in the snow. Connor had three sleds to choose from by the time we were finished - one of them I had used when I was little! Now that's an old sled :)

All bundled up

Snow ball fight, anyone?

On Tuesday we went to the Longmont Library for storytime. They had a guest presenter in who sang songs and told a story and then the whole group went Trick-or-Treating around the city employee's offices. Connor had fun!

More pictures in the leaves...

The weather was absolutely gorgeous today! We were sad we couldn't see Grandma and Grandpa today since Grandma was sick, but we spent the day relaxing, cleaning the house and doing some yard work. Just before sunset we took some more pictures in the leaves. We could've used a bit mroe sunlight, though, so maybe we'll try for some more tomorrow (before it snows!). Both boys did amazingly well taking pictures! Connor listened to our directions (wow!) and Logan didn't mind the scratchy leaves on him (double wow!).

This is my favorite from today...

I think someone loves their big brother!

Mmmm yummy hand

Don't worry, this wasn't as dangerous as it looks :)

What's so wrong with the color pink??

We went to the Grand Opening of 29th Street today, a new outdoor shopping area in Boulder where Crossroads Mall used to be. We went to a free children's concert at Playfair Toys where our favorite music teacher, Madelyn Clair, sang fun songs with the kids and let them play with finger puppets and egg shakers. Connor had a blast and Madelyn couldn't believe how big he is and that he has a little brother now!

We had a pretty good (and most importantly, free!) lunch at Islands and then walked around the shops. Connor danced to the music and watched a science show where he learned a bit about gravity and centrifugal force and the awful noise that occurs when a mic gets too close a speaker. :) Next was on to the balloon guy who was making balloons in any shape the kids asked for. It was finally our turn and Connor asked for a flower. The balloon guy looked at me to see if that was ok and I asked Connor what color he wanted. Connor screamed "PINK!" The balloon guy's jaw dropped and he said "I've been doing this for eight years and I've never had a little boy ask for pink. Ever. Not once." I didn't respond, just told Connor to watch what the guy was doing with the balloons. I could tell that the guy wasn't done talking about it though. He asked if we were from Boulder and he was surprised when I said that we live in Longmont. He said "Oh, well if you lived in Boulder that would've explained it." Ok, stop the train! First, why is it wrong for Connor to like pink flowers? Second, do all boys raised in Boulder like pink flowers? :) Why is pink a color just for girls? Why is it ok for girls to like blue? Isn't that a boy color? Are there any colors that girls aren't allowed to like? ARGH! Why do we have to be so closed minded? Just because he likes pink does not mean he's gay, people. And did I mention he likes to cook and clean? ;) Is it wrong for him to be sensitive and caring too? We must be bad parents, huh? Guess we'll have to learn the "no crying, no feelings, no sharing, no pink for boys" parenting style - NOT! I like that Connor has been exposed to and enjoys more than just trucks and dirt. He likes to sing, dance, paint, color, run, jump, and laugh. What's wrong with that?

Next we went to the face painter. The girls in front of Connor got rainbows painted on their faces so what did Connor want? Yep, a rainbow. So...here are some pictures of our BOY with his PINK FLOWERS and a RAINBOW painted on his face. Got a problem with it? :)

Happy Friday the 13th!

This last week has been busy! Daddy got home from Ohio on Sunday night. Here's Connor just before we left for the airport...

On the way home Connor asked if we were in Ohio and Jeremy explained that he had just come from Ohio on an airplane and that we were in Colorado. Connor replied "We're not in Colorado, Daddy. We're in the car!" We couldn't argue with that! :)

Wednesday was my birthday - the big 3-0! We all went to the Cheesecake Factory with my Dad and Sue. The cheesecake was fantastic, of course! The waitresses sang to me and I got a bunch of great presents! I think it was my Dad who said that I'm not 30 - I'm $29.99 plus tax! haha

We're hoping to go to a children's concert tomorrow morning and then we're having a free lunch at a new restaurant in Boulder. Should be fun!

Fall colors

Did I mention how much I love taking pictures in the leaves? Yesterday was a pretty chilly day but I couldn't resist taking the boys out for some leaf pictures. It's supposed to rain and possibly snow this week so I wanted to get some good shots before the leaves were ruined. We found these gorgeous leaves in Roosevelt Park. Don't forget to click on them to see a larger version :)

The pumpkin patch

Yesterday Grandma and Grandpa took us to the pumpkin patch - one of Connor's favorite places! He had a great time riding all the rides, jumping in the bouncy castle, chasing the ducks in the petting zoo, riding a horse named Cowboy and pulling the little red wagon to pick out pumpkins. Both my Dad and I took a ton of pictures so here are the highlights! Don't forget that you can click on the pictures to see a larger version!
